Norwich City’s talented goalkeeper, Angus Gunn, has recently shared his concerns about the lack of communication from the club regarding a potential new contract offer. With his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Gunn revealed that discussions about a renewal have not yet taken place.
In an interview with BBC Radio Norfolk, Gunn expressed his worries, stating, “I haven’t heard anything from the club, which is concerning. I get asked about it a lot, but I can’t give an answer because there has been no communication.”
The Scottish international, who has been sidelined due to a hamstring injury and unable to join the national team, remains hopeful that contract talks will commence in the upcoming weeks. Gunn emphasized the importance of clarity for a professional athlete when planning for the future.
“I’m hoping for some clarity more than anything – I have a family to consider and need to think about the future,” Gunn said. “As a professional player, it’s crucial to know where you stand.”
Despite the uncertainty, Gunn is open to the idea of staying at Carrow Road, where he has made a significant impact since his return. The 29-year-old, son of Norwich goalkeeping legend Bryan Gunn, reflected on his journey with the club and expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has been given.
“If the opportunity arises and they show interest in keeping me, it’s something I would definitely like to discuss,” Gunn mentioned. “Norwich is my hometown, where I grew up, and the club I support.”
Having previously played for Norwich on loan and returning in 2021 from Southampton, Gunn has become a key player in the team, with 166 appearances and 44 clean sheets under his belt.
“I owe a lot to this club and the people who have supported me throughout my career,” Gunn said, highlighting his strong connection to Norwich and his desire to continue contributing to its success.
