During a recent episode of the popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast, host Joe Rogan took a moment to heap praise on former UFC champion Daniel Cormier, calling him a humble “killer” in the octagon. Rogan, known for his candid commentary, couldn’t help but highlight Cormier’s impressive career and kind-hearted nature.
Cormier made history as the second fighter to hold UFC titles in two different weight classes. His knockout victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 266 in 2015 solidified his status as a two-weight champion, adding the heavyweight title to his already impressive light heavyweight championship. What’s even more remarkable is that Cormier successfully defended both titles simultaneously, a feat few fighters have accomplished.
Retiring in 2019 with a record of 22 wins, three losses, and one no contest, Cormier’s career is filled with memorable victories over top fighters like Anderson Silva, Dan Henderson, and Alexander Gustafsson. Despite being smaller than most heavyweights, Cormier’s skill and determination have cemented his legacy as one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time.
In recognition of his achievements, Cormier was rightfully inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s Modern Wing in 2022. Since stepping away from active competition, Cormier has transitioned into a role as a color commentator for UFC broadcasts, often sharing the booth with Rogan and Jon Anik. Rogan, who has gotten to know Cormier well, admires him not just for his fighting prowess but also for his genuine personality.
Rogan describes Cormier as a “tank of a human being” with exceptional wrestling abilities and an unwavering drive to win. Despite his intimidating presence in the octagon, Cormier is known for his kindness and humility outside of it. Rogan believes that spending time with Cormier would make it hard to believe that such a friendly and approachable person could be a fierce competitor.
In essence, Rogan’s endorsement of Daniel Cormier as both a formidable fighter and a genuinely good person speaks volumes about the former champion’s character and legacy in the world of mixed martial arts. Image Credit: Getty Images. Topics: Joe Rogan, MMA, UFC, Daniel Cormier.
