Growing up, I used to imagine a future filled with flying cars, robots, and sleek silver outfits straight out of my favorite sci-fi shows like the Jetsons and Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century. Skincare was definitely not a priority back then. Unlike the carefree characters from those shows, I now find myself thinking more about wrinkles and sun damage as I navigate my late 30s. While we may not be living in space stations with talking pets, the future is still pretty incredible—and it’s about to reveal just how “old” our skin really is.
At the 2025 CES tech show in Las Vegas, L’Oréal unveiled the Cell BioPrint device, taking beauty technology to a whole new level. This cutting-edge device offers personalized insights based on specific protein levels in your skin, giving you a detailed analysis of your skin’s past, present condition, and even its future in just five minutes.
Created in partnership with Korean biotech company NanoEnTek, the Cell BioPrint device promotes a proactive approach to skincare. Instead of waiting for issues like sunspots or dryness to appear, you can now use targeted ingredients like vitamin C or ceramides to prevent them altogether. The device provides data on your skin’s “age,” rate of aging, recommended active ingredients, and those to avoid. It can even predict potential issues such as dark spots, allowing you to address them before they become a concern.
Using the Cell BioPrint device is simple. With a tabletop setup resembling a small printer, you place a “facial tape strip” on your cheek, immerse it in a buffer solution, process the sample, and load it into the machine. As it analyzes your skin, the device captures photos of your face and asks you a few questions about your skin health and concerns.
In a world where technology is constantly evolving, it’s fascinating to witness innovations like the Cell BioPrint device revolutionizing our approach to skincare. Who would have imagined that the future I once daydreamed about as a child would involve such advanced tools for achieving healthy, glowing skin?
